Bezienswaardigheden / tips Miami 2026:
1) Art Deco District: Het Art Deco District in South Beach is een must om gezien te hebben. Dit goed bewaard gebleven, pastelkleurige Art Deco District maakt veel indruk. Het is de grootste concentratie Deco overal ter wereld, met ongeveer 1200 Deco gebouwen. Vooral in de avonduren als de neonlichten aan gaan ziet het Art Deco District er indrukwekkend uit. Het Art Deco District loopt van 6th tot 23rd street, tussen Lenox Avenue en Ocean Drive. De bekendste Art Deco gebouwen zijn te vinden aan de Ocean Drive. South Beach kun je het best te voet verkennen want parkeren is er lastig.
2) Art Deco Walking Tour: Wie geïnteresseerd is in de Art Deco architectuur van South Beach kan deelnemen aan een Art Deco Walking Tour. Deze rondleidingen worden gehouden vanuit het Art Deco Welcome Center aan 1001 Ocean Drive.
3) Palace Bar: Breng een bezoek aan de Palace Bar - Drag show en bewonder de optredens van de travestieten. De sfeer is gemoedelijk en gezellig en je kunt hier ook nog eens heerlijk eten. Het is raadzaam om een tafel te reserveren want de drag show is erg geliefd. De Palace Bar is gevestigd op Ocean Drive ter hoogte van 11th Street.
4) South Pointe Park: Aan het begin van Collins Avenue en Ocean Drive ligt het prachtige park South Pointe Park. Vanuit hier heb je een mooi uitzicht op het centrum van Miami en Fisher Island.
5) Miami Beach Boardwalk: De promenade begint bij Indian Beach Park ter hoogte van 46th Street en Collins Ave. Ter hoogte van 23rd Street gaat de promenade over in een verharde weg. Het verharde deel van de promenade loopt door de Ocean Drive Promenade aan 5th street.
6) Espanola Way: Tussen Washington en Drexel Avenue (ter hoogte van de 14th en 15th street) vindt je gezellige restaurants en boetieks. Dit gedeelte van Miami Beach noemen ze Espanola Way en is herkenbaar aan de Mediterranean zalmkleurige gebouwen en was bedoeld als kunstenaarswijk.
7) Holocaust monument en de Botanical Garden: In Miami Beach wonen veel overlevenden van de holocaust en daarom heeft men een aangrijpend monument geplaatst. Een bezoek aan het Holocaust Memorial monument (gratis toegang) kun je combineren met een bezoek aan de kleine Botanical Garden (gratis toegang) want het monument en de tuinen liggen naast elkaar.
8) Vizcaya Museum: Bezoek de Vizcaya museum en tuinen. Dit is één van de mooiste musea in Miami. Het was het winterverblijf van de schatrijke industrieel James Deering uit 1916. Deering wilde een replica van een 16de eeuws Italiaans buitenhuis. Het buitenhuis laat een mengeling van stijlen zien waaronder de Renaissance tot Neoklassieke stijl.

1) Art Deco District: The Art Deco District in South Beach is a must to have seen. The well-preserved, pastel-hued Art Deco District makes a big impression. It's the largest concentration of Deco anywhere in the world, with approximately 1200 buildings. Especially in the evening hours when the neon lights are on. The Art Deco District runs from 6th to 23rd Street between Lenox Avenue and Ocean Drive. The famous Art Deco buildings are located on Ocean Drive. You can explore South Beach the best by foot because parking is very difficult.
2) Art Deco Walking Tour: Those who are interested in the Art Deco architecture of South Beach can take part in an Art Deco Walking Tour. These walking tours are held from the Art Deco Welcome Center at 1001 Ocean Drive.
3) Palace Bar: Visit the Palace Bar - Drag show and admire the performances of the transvestites. The atmosphere is pleasant and cozy and you can also eat delicious food here. It is advisable to reserve a table because the drag show is very popular. The Palace Bar is located on Ocean Drive at 11th Street.
4) South Pointe Park: At the beginning of Collins Avenue and Ocean Drive you will find the beautiful South Pointe Park. From here you have a beautiful view of downtown Miami and Fisher Island.
5) Miami Beach Boardwalk: The promenade starts at Indian Beach Park at the height of 46th Street and Collins Ave. At the height of 23rd Street, the promenade has a paved road. The paved road part of the boardwalk runs through the Ocean Drive Promenade on 5th street.

7) Holocaust Memorial and the Botanical Garden: Many survivors of the holocaust live In Miami Beach and placed a poignant Memorial. You can combine a visit to the Holocaust Memorial Monument and the small Botanical Garden (both free access) because the monument and gardens are located next to each other.
8) Vizcaya Museum: Visit the Vizcaya Museum and Gardens. This is one of the finest museums in Miami. It was the winter home of the wealthy industrialist James Deering in 1916. Deering wanted a replica of a 16th century Italian country house. The country house shows a mixture of styles including the Renaissance to the Neoclassical style.

Winkelen in Miami 2026:
1) Lincoln Road Mall: In Miami Beach ligt tussen 16th en 17th street de Lincoln Road Mall. Je vindt hier voldoende winkels, boetieks, kunstgaleries en musea en straalt een unieke sfeer uit. De Lincoln Road Mall is verspreidt over 10 blokken en is afgesloten voor autoverkeer.
2) Miami Design District: De Miami Design District ligt tussen Washington Avenue en Ocean Drive en langs Collins Avenue tussen Sixth en Ninth Street. Hier vind je de duurdere winkels met design kleding maar ook goedkopere winkels zoals Gap en Banana Republic.
3) Dolphin Mall: Een half uur vanaf Miami Beach ligt de Dolphin Mall. Dit is het grootste overdekte winkelcentrum van Miami en hier vind je outlets en gewone winkels door elkaar.
4) Miami International Mall: Tegenover de Dolphin Mall vind je de Miami International Mall. In dit winkelcentrum vind je de warenhuizen Macy's en Sears en vele andere bekende Amerikaanse winkels. Ideaal om deze twee winkel centra's te combineren.
5) Aventura Mall: In North Miami Beach staat de Aventura Mall. Hier vind je de bekende winkels Abercrombie & Fitch, Burberry, A/X Armani Exchange, GAP en vele andere bekende Amerikaanse merken. Je kunt hier makkelijk een halve of hele dag vertoeven.
6) The Falls: Ongeveer 35 minuten vanaf Miami Beach heb je een open lucht winkelcentrum The Falls. The Falls is één van mijn favoriete plekken om te winkelen in Miami vanwege het aanbod van geweldige winkels, restaurants en entertainment met prachige vijvers en fonteinen.
7) CocoWalk: In het hart van Coconut Grove (20 minuten vanaf Miami Beach) ligt het mooie open lucht winkelcentrum CocoWalk. Hier vind je speciaal zaken, kunstgaleries, een bioscoop en verschillende nachtclubs.
8) Bal Harbour Shops biedt shoppers een luxe shopping ervaring in een open-air setting. Gelegen op het kruispunt van Collins Avenue en 96th Street in Bal Harbour, biedt de Bal Harbour Shops meer dan 100 luxe winkels. Je vindt hier onder andere de bekende merken Dolce en Gabbana, Emporio Armani, Gucci, Prada, Fendi, Escada en vele andere dure merken. Als je op zoek bent naar koopjes is dit winkelcentrum niet de beste keuze.
9) Bayside Marketplace is een winkelcentrum in de openlucht in het centrum van Miami. Het is gunstig gelegen aan Biscayne Boulevard en beschikt over vele restaurants en winkels.
10) Miracle Mile: In de wijk Coral Gables ligt de Miracle Mile. De Miracle Mile is een lange winkelstraat in de openlucht met ongeveer 170 luxe winkels en vele restaurants.
11) Dadeland Mall: Ten zuiden van Coral Gables (ongeveer 30 minuten vanaf Miami Beach) ligt de Dadeland Mall. Dit is een overdekt winkelcentrum met bekende winkels zoals Victoria's secret, Abercrombie & Fitch, GAP, Saks Fifth Avenue en vele andere bekende winkels.
12) Sawgrass Mills: Ongeveer 50 minuten vanaf Miami Beach vind je de grootste shopping outlet de Sawgrass Mills. Hier vind je bekende merken tegen een goedkope prijs en is gevestigd in het plaatsje Sunrise in Fort Lauderdale. Er zijn 350 winkels van alle bekende merken zoals Polo Ralph Lauren, Tommy Hilfiger, Nike, Uggs en vele andere bekende merken.
Shopping in Miami 2026:
1) Lincoln Road Mall: The Lincoln Road Mall is located between 16th and 17th street in Miami Beach. You will find stores, boutiques, art galleries, and museums, seven blocks of this ten-block mall have been closed to auto traffic and has an unique atmosphere.
2) Miami Design District: The Miami Desgin District lies between Washington Avenue and Ocean Drive and along Collins Avenue between Sixth and Ninth Street. Here, you'll find the more expensive designer shops but also the cheaper shops such as Gap and Banana Republic.
3) Dolphin Mall: Half an hour from Miami Beach you will find the Dolphin Mall. This is the largest shopping mall in Miami and here you can find outlets and also ordinary shops.
4) Miami International Mall: Across the Dolphin Mall you will find the Miami International Mall. In this shopping center you will find the department stores Macy's and Sears and many other famous American stores. Ideal to combine these two shopping centers together.
5) Aventura Mall: In North Miami Beach is the Aventura Mall. Here you will find the famous shops Abercrombie & Fitch, Burberry, A / X Armani Exchange, GAP and many other famous American brands. You can easily stay here for half or a full day.
6) The Falls: Approximately 35 minutes from Miami Beach you have an open air shopping center The Falls. The Falls is one of my favorite places to shop in Miami because it combines great shopping, restaurants and entertainment with a pleasant outdoor shopping experience with ponds and fountains.
7) CocoWalk: In the heart of Coconut Grove (20 minutes from Miami Beach) lies this beautiful outdoor shopping complex CocoWalk. CocoWalk features specialty stores, a movie theater, nightclubs and several art galleries.
8) Bal Harbour Shops offers shoppers an upscale shopping experience in an open-air setting. Located at the intersection of Collins Avenue and 96th Street in Bal Harbour, The Shops offers over 100 stores featuring luxury retailers. You will find here Dolce en Gabbana, Emporio Armani, Gucci, Prada, Fendi, Escada and many other expensive brands. If you're looking for bargains, this mall is not the best choice.
9) Bayside Marketplace is a great shopping experience in downtown Miami. It's conveniently located on Biscayne Boulevard and features fantastic stores and restaurants.
10) Miracle Mile: In the district of Coral Gables you will find the Miracle Mile. The Miracle Mile is a long shopping street in the open air with about 170 luxury shops and many restaurants.
11) Dadeland Mall: South of Coral Gables (about 30 minutes from Miami Beach) you will find the the Dadeland Mall. This is a shopping mall with famous stores such as Victoria's Secret, Abercrombie & Fitch, GAP, Saks Fifth Avenue and many other stores.
12) Sawgrass Mills: Approximately 50 minutes from Miami Beach you will find the largest shopping outlet the Sawgrass Mills. Here you will find famous brands at a cheap price and is located in the town of Sunrise in Fort Lauderdale. Restaurants in Miami 2026:
1) Joe's Stone Crab Restaurant: Joe's Stone Crab is het beste krabrestaurant van Miami Beach. Voordat South Beach er was, was Joe er al. De rij klanten die staan te wachten is al sinds de opening in 1913 iedere dag weer lang. Op het menu staat de steenkrab, een lekkernij van zoet vlees . De krab is nog begeerlijker als je weet dat hij alleen van half oktober tot half mei te krijgen is. Het beste dessert is de lokale citroentaart. Maar reken er wel op dat je een poosje in de rij staat. Tip: Rond 5 uur zijn de rijen wachtenden het kortst. Als je helemaal niet wil wachten maar wel de lekkernij wil proeven kun je ook een bestelling plaatsen. De krab wordt per expres geleverd in je hotel.
Restaurants in Miami 2026:
1) Joe's Stone Crab Restaurant: Joe's Stone Crab isthe best crab restaurant in Miami Beach. Before South Beach was there, Joe was already there. Since it opened in 1913, the line of customers who are waiting are every day very long. On the menu you will find the stone crab, a delicacy sweet fresh meat. The crab is even more desirable when you know that you can only can get the crab from mid-October to mid-May. The best dessert is the local lemon tart. But do keep in mind that you have to stand in line for a while. Tip: Around 5 pm the waiting lines are the shortest. If you do not want to wait but you want to taste the delicacy you can also place an order. The crab is delivered by express at your hotel.

Lummus Park lies on the eastern side of Ocean Drive, from 5th to 15th Streets. When redesigned and improved in the mid-1980s, it became part of the project for the redevelopment of what is now the Miami Beach Architectural District of South Beach.
Langs Ocean Drive, biedt het park mooie grasvelden en palmbomen maar ook volleybalvelden. Een golvend voetgangerspad, de Promenade genoemd, scheidt het gras van het park en het strand tot aan de 21ste Street waar het overgaat in een promenade.

In het Art Deco District staan op een oppervlak van niet meer dan 2.5 km2 zo'n 800 pastelkleurige panden in diverse uitgesproken stijlen: art deco, modern, en mediterraan. Alles bij elkaar genomen vind je hier de grootste concentratie jaren '20, '30 en '40 vakantie architectuur in de Verenigde Staten.

In de Palace Bar vind je optredens van travestieten. De sfeer is erg gezellig zowel in de middag als avonduren.

Collins Avenue, deels State Road A1A loopt parallel aan de Atlantische Oceaan in Miami Beach. Collins Avenue werd genoemd naar John S. Collins een ontwikkelaar die in 1913 de eerste brug Collins Bridge voltooide. Het verbindt Miami Beach met het vasteland over Biscayne Bay.
Collins Avenue, partly co-signed State Road A1A, runs parallel to the Atlantic Ocean in Miami Beach. Collins Avenue was named for John S. Collins a developer who in 1913 completed the first bridge, Collins Bridge, connecting Miami Beach to the mainland across Biscayne Bay.
